KC Barbecue

I’ve now eaten at most of the KC Barbecue standards (except for LC’s). Today, I had lunch at Danny Edwards Blvd. BBQ, a place that I’ve seen from I-35 for years, but have never frequented (likely because I’ve never worked close enough to Southwest Boulevard to go there on my lunch break).

So KC Free Press is running a poll asking “What’s the best BBQ in KC?”

Like I said, I have never been to LC’s (it’s on my list), but here’s my ranking, best to worst:

  1. Oklahoma Joe’s - Best combination of menu items and sauce. They also happen to have great onion rings.
  2. Gates - Health record aside, I’m a big fan. Their original sauce is one of my favorites.
  3. Danny Edwards - Good portion sizes and really delicious and crispy fries.
  4. Jack Stack - A little higher end, but their sides are amazing and their burnt ends are top notch.
  5. Arthur Bryant’s - Sorry, KC. Their meats are great, but the sauce is awful.

So what are your favorites?

  10. bonjourlaura answered: I am embarrassed to say that I have never been to any of these places, despite growing up in KC. My parents were proponents of southern BBQ.
