Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo Masterplan (hi res)

Instead of housing all varieties of an animal family in one space, the plan calls for the animals to be redistributed throughout the zoo and displayed near others from their part of the world.
The 162-acre campus would be divided into sections — African Grasslands, Asian Highlands, Andean Foothills, Equatorial Africa or Coastal Shores — that offer larger and more natural exhibit spaces.

I’m geeking out about this a bit. My first trip to the Lied Jungle when it opened in 1992 was a contributing factor in wanting to become an engineer. You can see the entire masterplan report here.
Also, Rosenblatt is a parking lot. *tear*

The Omaha Zoo is worth the 3-hour trip from KC. If I were the KC Zoo, I would just give up and send all my animals there.

How exactly does a jungle exhibit at a zoo make you want to become an engineer? Rope bridges?
