Sometimes, you get surprised on accident. I was flipping through my photos and found this picture of my uncle, his wife and his sister (my mom).
My Uncle Larry passed away in 2006 from pancreatic cancer and this is one of the last photos that I have of him. It was taken during a tough time in December of 2004 in one of the lounges of the UCLA Medical Center.
This is part of a post I wrote on the day he died:
Larry Beck was one of the best uncles that anyone could ask for. He was fun, quirky, and he loved his family. When I was growing up, my uncle was a magician at Magic Mountain. How cool would it be to have a magician for an uncle. he used to do all sorts of tricks for us and he would always get this wry smile when he saw how impressed we were.
Larry was taken from his family far too early in life by a horrible disease. I miss him lots, and didn’t expect to get sad flipping through my iPhoto library this morning. I know that he wouldn’t like me being sad that he’s gone. He’d want me to be happy.
And I am. I have an amazing life.
